Britney Spears Starts Filming “Glee” Appearance

Britney Spears has tweeted out her arrival on the Glee set today. Here’s what she revealed about her highly anticipated appearance on Fox’s hit musical series, plus everything else you need to know about this very special episode:

In a fit of morning twittering, Britney announced, “About to do my first shot of the day for Glee tweeties! Here we goooo! ” She followed up two hours later with a twitpic of her and assistant Brett Miller on the set along with the messsage, “what’s up GLEEKS? Having so much fun on set!! Can’t wait for you guys to see the episode! -Britney”

Brit-Brit makes her cameo in episode two of Glee season two, in an installment which is called “Britney/Brittany” and which is being directed by series creator Ryan Murphy. At least six of Brit’s songs are featured in the episode. Britney cameos in the ether-induced fever dreams of the glee-club members after they have reason to visit the town dentist—who just so happens to be played by our good friend John Stamos.

As for the other “Brit” of the episode title, the episode offers Glee fans the series’ first in-depth examination of the dimmest Cheerio, Brittany, who is played by Heather Morris. (Morris, who got her start as a dancer for Beyoncé, has gone from Glee background to breakout personality over the past year.)

Morris has stated in the past that the perfect song for Brittany to do solo would be Spears’ “Baby One More Time,” and is indeed one of the Spears standards to appear on the show, along with “Stronger,” “Oops!…I Did It Again” and “Toxic.” (Source)

“Glee” Season Two Poster Released

FOX is rolling out advertising for the sophomore season of “Glee,” and instead of being branded as losers with giant hand Ls, the cast is fighting back with the series’ signature slushie throw. The first look, posted by Vulture, features the 12 core Gleeks brandishing brightly-colored beverages. And you’ll likely be seeing a lot of them in the coming months.

Everybody’s favorite overexposed show is reportedly rolling out the campaign the week of August 23 – just in time for the Emmys – on billboards, buses, magazines, TV and the very monitor you’re looking at right now.

The full-sized poster is indeed off the chain, but there’s also something slightly curious about it. That’s either a random blond girl standing in for Brittany (Heather Morris) or she’s the victim of gratuitous air-brushing. She’s the only one in the cast who just doesn’t look like themselves.

Is Justin Timberlake Heading to “Glee?”

Back in January, Glee star Lea Michele told MTV she would love to see Matthew Morrison (who plays Mr. Schuester) and Justin Timberlake have a dance-off on the hit FOX TV show. In a recent interview with MTV, she suggest that her wish to see the Emmy winner on the show could very well come true:

“I think they are saving Justin Timberlake for the Super Bowl episode,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “They have to be, because he is so perfect for our show. He has to be on it! When I met Jessica Biel, like a loser, I asked her to tell Justin to come on our show. [Laughs.] She was a little taken aback and said, ‘Um, OK. I’ll tell him.’ “

Since premiering in 2009, GLEE has featured a number of guest stars, including Broadway performers Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. Season two of GLEE premieres Tuesday, Sept. 21. (Source)

Britney Spears to Appear On “Glee”

Whether you like her or not, it’s hard to deny that Britney Spears has had an effect on pop culture, and with those everlasting memories — the ushering in of teen pop, the hit after hit, and the expert use of a boa constrictor. So, naturally, when news broke that Glee would do an all-Britney episode, similar to their all-Madonna ep, I was jumping with, well, glee.

But today, creator Ryan Murphy said on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show that not only would the kids be singing her tunes, but the pop princess herself will be appearing on the episode. It’s a veritable pop culture explosion!

Murphy assures fans that the episode will be respectful and focus on her music rather than delve into her, um, troubled years. He also reveals that though her exact role is unclear, Spears will be part of fantasy sequences. (Source)

‘Glee’: Jenna Ushkowitz is ready to hit the concert trail

Jenna Ushkowitz is no stranger to theater work, which she sees as a bonus as the “Glee” concert tour nears its start.

In fact, the actress now known to loyal Gleeks as Tina worked on Broadway with current castmate Lea Michele in “Spring Awakening,” so they’re both ready for the performances being spun off from their hit Tuesday series on FOX. The live shows begin this Saturday (May 15) in Phoenix, then move on to Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.

“We’re really excited,” Ushkowitz tells Zap2it. “We start tomorrow [Tuesday, May 11] in Phoenix on the stage, checking the set and getting the costumes. We’ve been running the show, and it’s coming together really, really nicely. I think people are in for a big treat. We’re having so much fun.”

Tunes that have been reborn as “Glee” standards, such as Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’ ” and Queen’s “Somebody to Love,” are on the concert roster. As familiar as she’s become with them, Ushkowitz knows it’s one thing to stage them for television and anoather to perform them for live audiences — especially audiences that now have “Glee”-ful expectations.

“It’s definitely an adjustment,” Ushkowitz confirms. “In television, you have the luxury of having another take if you don’t get it right; in live theater, you just go with the flow and wing it, but you also work off the energy of the audience. That’s where I feel like I’m at home. In television, you also have a camera always in your face, but both (venues) are wonderful.”

With filming of the June 8 “Glee” season finale completed, Ushkowitz is happy the concerts are giving her extra time with her co-stars before they go their separate ways for the summer.

“You have Cory Monteith, who’s never performed live before, and he’ll ask Lea or me what’s the best way to do this or that. We help each other out as much as we can.”

‘Glee’s’ Tina Next To Turn Cheerio?

Just as we predicted, Glee’s initially minor characters are gaining more air time as the season progresses. Jenna Ushkwoitz is pushing for producers to delve deeper into her black-clothes-obsessed character, Tina.

“I would love to see where Tina comes from because I’ve created my own backstory where she’s rebelling against her mother more than anything,” Jenna explains. “I don’t think her room is filled with dark posters and heavy metal stuff. I just think this is a phase she’s going through. There’s definitely a lot of options for all the characters to evolve and change next year. I’m totally rooting for Tina to join the Cheerios or something crazy like that!”
